We Support School-based & Community-based Learning

Supporting people to learn about all aspects of Ulster-Scots language, culture and heritage is central to the work of the Ulster-Scots Agency. This section is focused on our Education work, which supports school and community-based learning.

Within schools, we are proud that all our learning resources are mapped to the Northern Ireland curriculum, while there are a variety of courses, webinars, talks and experiences available for those interested in discovering more about Ulster-Scots within a community setting.

We also work closely with colleagues in the Ulster-Scots Community Network [link to USCN: Home - Ulster Scots Community Network] who provide a range of community-based learning experiences.

Some of the learning we support is accredited, where students receive external recognition for their work, e.g. from the Open College Network (OCN) or the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA).

Each month, the Education team send out a newsletter, linking teachers, school staff and educators to a wealth of classroom resources to help embed the teaching and learning of Ulster-Scots language, culture and heritage.

From Foundation to Post-16, to teachers’ own professional development, our content has you covered. Email us to receive these newsletters straight to your inbox.
