Bringing Ulster-Scots to the Community
The Ulster-Scots Agency provides support for youth and community organisations through the delivery of interactive workshops. These sessions are delivered by our Education team and are centred around Ulster-Scots language, culture and heritage, but our content can also be tailored to a groups' specific needs.
Community and faith-based organisations have availed of our bespoke learning opportunities, while a collaborative partnership with the Boys' Brigade, the Girls' Brigade, Girl Guides and the Scouts, has resulted in the development of new Ulster-Scots programmes of study for badgework. Our team can offer additional support by delivering workshops related to the course content or by putting organisations in touch with local musicians to help enhance the programmes.
Other groups to participate in our workshops include the Women's Institute, Men's Shed, Women's Groups and Historical Societies.
To complement the sessions, the Agency has a selection of assets available for groups, including publications and free printables. Further information on these, is available from our team on request of a workshop.
The Agency also supports accredited programmes so students can receive external recognition for their work, e.g. from the Open College Network (OCN) or the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA). These courses are led by qualified tutors and students are supported through their learning and development. More on each of the programmes can be found below.
