In collaboration with the Boys' Brigade, Girls' Brigade, Girl Guides and the Scouts, we are delighted to have developed new Ulster-Scots programmes of study for badgework.

In addition to the resources, our team offers additional support to community and faith-based organisations by delivering workshops related to the course content or by putting organisations in touch with local musicians to help enhance the programmes.

Boys' Brigade

This resource is designed to be used around Burns Night but can also be used at any other time throughout the year. The resource is suitable for Anchors, Juniors, Company and Seniors to learn more about the culture, language, music and food of Ulster Scots.

Girls' Brigade

The Ulster-Scots programme for girls and leaders is now available and has been created to help GB girls get involved with, and learn more about, Ulster-Scots. Members of our team previously featured in the Girls' Brigade Northern Ireland podcast to talk about the resource, language, music and the importance of raising awareness of Ulster-Scots. Girl Guides

The 'Whit Aboot Ye?' resource pack is for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. Topics feature around Ulster-Scots language, culture, music, dance and food traditions, with activities including singing in Ulster-Scots, researching your family clans, making your own tartan, and trying some new recipes.

Scouts

This resource provides a wide range of programme ideas for all sections – from Squirrels through to Explorers, including how to make potato and soda bread, learning some wee words, researching Ulster-Scots pioneers, and more. The programme enables young people to investigate, research and take part in different Ulster-Scots traditions, while having fun and gaining badges that will work towards the Scouting Top Awards.
