About
The Schomberg Society, which was established in 1998, is an Ulster-Scots umbrella organisation with Ulster-Scots centres, Reivers House and The Hairtlan Hub, located in Kilkeel.
The Society aims to promote and preserve all aspects of Ulster-Scots culture and identity through its numerous outreach projects and programmes. Reivers House and The Hairtlan Hub are busy centres, showcasing various Ulster-Scots activities, events and projects every week.
The Schomberg Society works with different Ulster-Scots groups, marching bands and loyal orders across the South Down area to build their capacity and help deliver projects, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
Educational outreach of Ulster-Scots culture, language and traditions are a vital aspect of Schomberg’s work. The organisation visits schools, youth groups and community groups to better educate them regarding Ulster-Scots identity.
