About

Located opposite one of the oldest Presbyterian churches in Ireland, Monreagh Heritage Centre in County Donegal contains a wealth of information from the Plantation of Ulster to the present day.

Many former United States presidents and industrialists have ancestral connections with the area, including Presidents James Buchanan and James K. Polk. During the 17th and 18th century, many people immigrated from this region to ‘New World’ America.

The Centre contains four themed exhibition rooms, each dedicated to a particular period of history. The Living History Garden contains exhibits that remind visitors of the architecture, and agricultural industries, of the past. Visitors can view a Round House, Plantation Cottage, and Forge and Flax patch.

The Centre hosts regular music, cultural and industrial events, as well as a ‘Living History’ schools’ projects.
